investment on the rise nationwide

The dollar figure on government-approved investments in construction for the first eight months of the year increased by 92 per cent compared to the same period in 2010, according to official statistics. The Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction approved 1,470 construction projects worth US$881.3 million between January and August, according to ministry statistics released yesterday. The ministry gave the green light to 1,580 projects worth $458.4 million during the same period in 2010. Continue reading

Phnom Penh Port shipments increase

Freight shipments through Phnom Penh Autonomous Port saw year-on-year growth of 30 per cent in the first nine months of the year, according to official PPAP figures. Bird Flu Deaths Up; No New Strain Detected

Health officials in Cambodia say they have so far not detected a new strain of the bird flu virus that appeared recently in Vietnam. Port sees revenues increase this year

Sihanoukville Autonomous Port revenues increased more than 16 percent year-on-year in the first eight months of 2011, according to port officials. Cambodia’s largest port generated US$21 million in revenues between January and August, up from $18 million in the same period last year, SAP director general Lou Kim Chhun said yesterday. “We have seen port revenues increase this year, as the number of freight shipments continue to grow, especially agricultural products.” The agriculture products included rice, rubber, textiles, footwear, acacia wood and machinery, he said.
