MFI opens with $50m loan package

Sonata Microfinance Institution, a joint investment between local and foreign investors, officially started operations in Cambodia yesterday. Fast Relief Urged for Families in Flooding

The relief organization Oxfam American on Tuesday called for increased efforts to help tens of thousands of families cope with severe flooding across the country. The US-based group said displaced people need food deliveries, clean water, sanitation supplies and shelters, as the death toll from floods in August rose to 164 people and nearly 21,000 people have been displaced. Kingdom suspected origin of cyber attack

Betfair, the world’s largest online betting company, has named Cambodia as the possible origin of a cyber attack in which payment information from 2.3 million users was stolen. Cambodia was the only country that had been identified by Betfair, which is based in Britain, in connection with the security breach on March 14 last year, company spokesman Jonathan Lates said yesterday.
